Why the rating has to be right
A breaker must be matched to the cable behind it, not to the appliance in front of it. Fitting a larger breaker to stop nuisance tripping is the most common dangerous shortcut in Ghanaian homes: the tripping stops, and so does the protection. The cable now heats up with nothing to intervene.

Boards fill up, and that is when mistakes happen
Most distribution boards in older Ghanaian homes have been added to over the years — a circuit here for an air conditioner, another there for a water heater or a borehole pump. Each addition is reasonable on its own. Together they leave a board carrying far more than it was originally sized for, often with breakers chosen to stop nuisance tripping rather than to match the cable.
When a board reaches that point, replacing it is usually cheaper and safer than adding one more circuit to it.

No. The breaker is protecting the cable behind it. A bigger one removes that protection without fixing the cause. Have the circuit tested.
What is the difference between an MCB and an RCD?
An MCB protects against overload and short circuit. An RCD detects current leaking to earth — the kind of fault that shocks people. Many installations need both.
