Fault-finding is the real skill
Replacing a socket is easy. Knowing which socket to replace, and why it failed, is the work. A fault that keeps returning after each repair is usually a symptom of something further up the circuit — and chasing symptoms costs more than testing properly once.
Before the electrician arrives
If you can smell burning, see sparks, or a fitting is hot to touch, switch off at the main breaker and leave it off. If a circuit trips repeatedly, do not keep resetting it — the breaker is doing its job, and forcing it on defeats the protection.
