What to do before help arrives
Switch off at the main breaker if you can smell burning or see scorching. Keep children away from the area. Do not open the distribution board. If a breaker trips repeatedly, leave it off — it is protecting you from something.
Why the licence matters
Every electrician on ESCA Tech holds an Energy Commission licence, and we check it before they can accept a single job. Unlicensed wiring is behind a large share of electrical fires in Ghana, and the damage usually shows up years after the person who did the work has gone. Whoever opens your distribution board should be someone whose qualification was verified by somebody other than himself.
